In this blog series, we will highlight charities doing great work around the world that accept cryptocurrency donations. For this post, we are thrilled to highlight the amazing work being done by The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).

RAICES’ Mission

“We defend the rights of immigrants and refugees, empower individuals, families, and communities, and advocate for liberty and justice.”

RAICES is a 501(c)(3) organization that believes in a world of compassion and where the rights of migrants are guaranteed. They offer legal services in support of low-income immigrants, and provide wrap around services through one-on-one case management to support and empower their clients.

Programs offered by RAICES include refugee resettlement support, a Bond program that supports the release of mothers and children held in detention centers, a hotline that aims to connect migrants with community resources, and their “Bus Station Program,” which aims to “provide important information regarding the next steps in people’s immigration process, raise awareness to apprehension, detention, and release patterns, and connect people with avenues of continuing support where referral partnerships have been established.”

Impacts

Since its inception in 1987, RAICES has had enormous impacts on the lives of migrants and refugees in the United States. Their impacts have included:
