The Giving Block and Shift4 Launch $10M “Caring with Crypto” donation matching campaign

The Giving Block is the worlds largest crypto giving platform, with more than 1,300 non-profits enrolled in their service, and nearly $70,000,000 USD in donations processed in 2021. Since their launch, they have been an essential component of the crypto philanthropy ecosystem. On March 1, 2022, it was announced that Shift4, a provider of integrated payment and technology solutions, had acquired The Giving Block.

This acquisition caused major waves in the crypto giving community and proved that crypto philanthropy is garnering attention outside of the web3 community. In a statement made by The Giving Block, they mentioned:

“Our introduction to Shift4 came through their Shift4Cares program when they launched the Inspiration4 campaign. The campaign raised $240M for St. Jude as Shift4 CEO and Founder Jared Isaacman led the first all-civilian space mission into orbit. As we got to know the Shift4 team, it became clear how serious their commitment to philanthropy was, and we immediately aligned around two shared priorities:

1.       Becoming the best payments company in the nonprofit sector

2.       Becoming the leading driver of mainstream crypto adoption

When a company of Shift4’s stature presented us with the opportunity to change the world in the ways that matter most, joining forces went from being a decision to an imperative.”

To celebrate this new partnership, it was announced today, March 15, 2022, that the Giving Block and Shift 4 have launched a new matching program to drive crypto donations. The CEO of Shift4, Jared Isaacman, will be matching $10M in crypto donations made to non-profit organizations via The Giving Block.

At the time of writing of the article, after only about 6 hours since making the announcement, nearly $250,000 USD had already been raised.

According go the Giving Block, “The matching campaign covers all donations made to individual nonprofit organizations, The Giving Block’s Crypto Adoption Fund (which benefits all nonprofits), and The Giving Block’s Impact Index Funds (which benefit nonprofits associated with specific causes).”
