3 - Inspiring crypto/blockchain quotes

“We have elected to put our money and faith in a mathematical framework that is free of politics and human error.”

Tyler Winklevoss, Founder, Gemini Cryptocurrency Exchange

“When decentralized blockchain protocols start displacing the centralized web services that dominate the current Internet, we'll start to see real internet-based sovereignty. The future Internet will be decentralized.”

Olaf Carlson-Wee, CEO, Polychain Capital

“The blockchain does one thing: It replaces third-party trust with mathematical proof that something happened.”

Adam Draper, Founder, Boost VC

2 - Reflections from this week’s blog

One common theme that emerged in this week’s blog posts, was the need for institutions to embrace crypto or risk being left behind. Crypto is not going anywhere. Most governments will surely be hesitant to adopt cryptocurrency and blockchain innovations, as the whole concept of decentralization takes away from their centralized power. Charities may worry about accepting crypto donations as there is still a stigma associated with crypto as a “currency of criminals”, and they worry this will scare away traditional donors. These institutions, like others, will have to figure out how to live with and embrace crypto, or they will fall behind.

Partnerships will be essential as crypto projects look to take off and scale, and partnerships should be welcomed. With the decentralized nature of cryptocurrency, many may struggle with the concept of partnering with a corporation or government. However, as with any technological innovation, it is important to work collaboratively with a diversity of partners. If we don’t welcome others into the crypto and blockchain space, it will be harder to create buy-in around the life-changing use cases of this technology. A great example of a successful partnership is that between ReSea, a charity; DNV, a corporation; and VeChain, a blockchain platform. As this technology becomes more widely adopted, hopefully we continue to see more of these partnerships.
